A few words about the Higueron River Walk
The Higueron River’s hiking trail is a beautiful walk in the province of Málaga, in Axarquia. It is a medium level walk. If you walk 12 km round trip you will see the main part of the walk.
Equipment for the hike
All you need is a pair of safe sports shoes, as the hike is done with your feet in the water.
The hike can be done with teenagers who like to walk. There is no particular danger.
Starting point of the hike in Frigiliana
The starting point of the walk is in the main square of Frigiliana, where the sugarcane honey factory is located:

Note: for the more athletic, it is possible to start the hike from the heights of Frigiliana, right next to the ruins of Lizar Castle. In this case, follow the acequia de Lizar. A very beautiful route with magnificent landscapes.

The rules for this hike
We take a small backpack with food and drinks, as well as a bag to keep all the rubbish so as not to leave anything in nature.
Like all ecosystems, this one is particularly fragile and everyone must protect it as best they can.
For safety, and although there are more than 300 days of sunshine a year, we check that there has been no rain in the previous days.
