What is a via ferrata?


A via ferrata (which can be translated as “vertical hike”) is a route that is both vertical and horizontal, equipped with various materials.


What you will find on a via ferrata: steel holds, chains, suspension bridges and zip lines, which allow you to safely reach areas that are difficult to access.

How is this via ferrata organised in Costa del Sol?


The word of David, the instructor: “We will meet at the bus station in Nerja. Then with our shuttle bus we will go to the village of Comares. This Via Ferrata offers the possibility of 3 different routes in terms of difficulty and technical level.


We will cross different hanging bridges and use tyrolean traverse.

At the end of this activity, we will take a walk through the fabulous village of Comares, known as “the balcony of Axarquia” for its incredible views of the surrounding sierras and the sea.


NB: David speaks Spanish, English, French and Portuguese.

  • an official guide, certified in active tourism
  • equipment: helmet, harness, gloves and dissipators

This via ferrata is open all year round and costs 45€.

It is possible to do this activity from the age of 12. You must be in good physical condition and not be afraid of heights, and you must be equipped with sports shoes.


Booking the via ferrata from Nerja


David, the instructor, will pick you up in Nerja and then go to the via ferrata site in Comares.


Please note, this via ferrata will not be open in 2024, see the 2 other via ferrata below which are open for reservation, from Nerja.
