A few words about Torrox and the Romeria
Torrox pueblo is an authentic white village in Axarquia, in the province of Malaga.

Origin of the romeria :
The word “romeria” comes from “romero”. It is the name given to the pilgrims who went to Rome almost 2000 years ago. Romerias, which are very typical in Andalucia, therefore have very ancient origins.
This romeria is in honour of the patron saint of Torrox: San Roque.
Dates of the Romeria de San Roque
The San Roque romeria will take place on 25 August 2024.
The programme of the romeria
A mass will be held in the morning.
Then the romeria will start in front of the church. The patron saint San Roque will be accompanied by horses and riders from all over Axarquia. The Peña Caballista de Torrox and other Peñas will come with their horses.
The Romeria will continue to the river Torrox (río Torrox), after passing through several parts of the village, including Fuente and Pontil streets.
